Activating Your Alma Account

Modified on Tue, 31 Jan 2023 at 02:09 PM

Our IT department creates accounts in Alma for K-12 parents, students, and staff. After a student is completely enrolled at King's Way, the student and parents accounts are created.

Once your account is created, use these instructions to activate your account, understand Alma's dashboard, set your Emergency Notification preferences, and connect your login to your Google account (optional). Please be sure to set an Emergency Notification preference.

If you need the website link for Alma, you can find it on the King's Way website in the "Login" section. Or see the links below:

Note: if you have children enrolled in more than one school, it doesn't matter which school you click on. You account gives     you access to each of the schools in which you have children enrolled.

Notification Preferences

If King's Way needs to send out an urgent piece of information to the entire K-12 school (such as a school closure), or inform you about an on-campus emergency, Alma will be one of the systems used to communicate with you. Alma sends out two notifications.

  • An email. Every parent and contact connected to your child will receive an email with the message.
  • They will also receive one of the following kinds of communication:
    • An automated computerized phone call with the message.
    • A text with the message.

You need to set your preference to either Phone Call or Text Message. Here is how to do that.

  1. Once you are logged in to Alma, click on your initials in the upper right corner of your screen (on Desktop) or lower right corner of your screen (on mobile) and select "Notification Preferences."
  2. Under "EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS" select either "Phone Call" or "Text Message", Under "MISSING ASSIGNMENT NOTIFICATIONS" select either "Email" or "Do not send" (only applicable for Middle & High Schools), then click the green "Save" button in the bottom right corner.

Please note that the phone call will go to the first phone number in your Alma profile, and that a text message will go to the first number that is set to receive text messages.

Connecting Your Account to Google

If you did NOT use the "Sign in with Google" option when signing up, you can do so in your "Account Access Preferences".

  1. Once you are logged in to Alma, click on your initials in the upper right corner of your screen (on Desktop) or lower right corner of your screen (on mobile) and select "Account Access Preferences."
  2. Under "Google", click on the green "Connect Account" button.
  3. A "Sign in to Google" window will appear allowing your to select or sign in to your Google account. Once that is done you will see a screen like the one below saying "Account Connected" showing your email address. You can disconnect this account by returning here and clicking the orange "Disconnect Account" button.
