Mac Users Updating PaperCut

Modified on Wed, 30 Dec 2020 at 11:07 AM

Mac users can now update their PaperCut client software all on their own. Your client software needs to be updated when the sever is updated. When an email goes out notifying that an update has happened, please follow these steps to make sure you are up to date. Here are the steps to update your client.

  • You need to be on the church network on either the KWCS-MAC or VANFCOG-KWCS wifi, or a wired network connection. This will not work on InternetAccess which you should never use anyway.
  • From the Desktop, click on the Go menu and select "Connect to server" or you can also push Command-K

  • On the next screen, type in smb://papercut/pcclient/mac (you can copy and paste that in).

  • This brings bring up a window asking you to confirm that you want to connect to a server, or it might ask you for your username and password. In either case, click Yes, or Confirm, or enter when it asks for.
  • This will open a folder that includes a file called "client-local-install". Double-click on that to start the installation.

  • It will ask you if you want to install, click Yes.

That should do it! There is no confirmation that it succeeded or failed, it should just work. If need be, reboot your computer and try to print something to a printer on campus. If it doesn't work, please put in a ticket.
